Hello, I'm Abel. Nice to meet you!
Below you can find a summary / timeline of my professional career and further down a section with my side projects. Jobs and projects that aren't very notable are hidden inside a dropdown.
Career
-
2022 July - Present: Survey Programmer @ Dynata.
- Co-led a multi-country tracker project across multiple waves, implementing scripting and workflow improvements that increased data clarity and streamlined survey development.
- Developed internal automation tools, including a quota generator and quota-marker fixer, reducing repetitive manual work and improving consistency across survey scripts.
- Led the team's transition from Sublime Text to Visual Studio Code, developing and supporting custom extensions while helping modernize the scripting environment and reduce tooling costs.
- Integrated Metaforms into the scripting workflow and developed custom rules to extend its capabilities and improve survey development efficiency.
- Develop and maintain custom survey functionality using Python, JavaScript, XML, HTML/CSS and Decipher, translating complex questionnaire requirements into production-ready implementations.
-
2022 January, February: Data Steward @ Veeva.
Technologies: Veeva's Data Collection platform. I assume (but I never looked it up) that other companies working in the same field have similar platforms and workflows.
It was nice to work in a team, but I don't want to do this again. In this part of the town (the world) hospital sites range from great and updated frequently to non-existent, in which case you have to call the respective institution for information. If only someone offered to make website for those hospitals...
-
2021 June - November: Application Developer @ Atos.
- Contributed to the migration of an enterprise application environment from SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 to SUSE 15, working with Bash, Git and Linux CLI tooling.
- Implemented bug fixes across multiple areas of the company's product and collaborated with the development team using Jira and Confluence.
-
2017 June - September: Junior Software Developer @ Fuelplus.
- Developed Angular 2 components from UI mockups as part of the migration of the company's product to a modern web framework.
- Built reusable web components using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, with additional experience in SCSS and Bootstrap.
Education
- 2023 - 2026: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science @ Universitatea Transilvania.
- Language Skills:
- Hungarian: Native (Mother Tongue)
- Romanian: Fluent
- English: C2 / Fluent
- German: A2 / Basic
Notable side projects (with helpful indicators about how complete I consider them to be)
-
Technologies: TypeScript
While there are existing extensions to assist survey programming in Decipher, an extension for VS Code is notably missing.
-
Technologies: Python, Web, JSON, CSV
An app that makes generating complex quota setups easier. (Imagine the problem described in here, but with even more variables.)
It has two separate implementations - a web version that you can find here and a Python version that works offline.
-
Technologies: Java, Swing UI
So I created WADdup because I wasn't aware that other launchers existed (for Linux - the standard GZDoom launcher is completely fine on Windows). I would have created it anyway though, probably. From a technical standpoint, it's not very interesting, just a simple Java desktop application. But it works pretty well, and isn't that all you need in the end?
-
Technologies: Vanilla JS, CSS3, HTML5
I started working on this in August 2023 almost purely because having my own site really appeals to me. It's fully functional as it is right now, but I want to add a few quality-of-life improvements like dark mode persistence (added in Feb 2024 yay). As of Feb 2024 it's in complete working order, though there may be changes in the future.
As of January 2025 I've removed dark mode entirely and updated the look of the site a bit.
Less notable side projects
-
Technologies: Vanilla JS
I really like persistent storage. At some point in the near future, I will implement a short script in this site to store the dark mode preference of the user, because I would love to have that as a user of any site.
This uses the LocalStorage API and its structure is based on absolutely nothing but intuition, trial and error, and revisions. If it had been a serious project developed for a specific purpose, I would have researched the hell out of the 'why'-s and 'how'-s of normal database languages. (I have only used MySQL and SQLite so far, but I'm curious about other ones too.)
As it is, it was fun to work on this and it's very useable (imo).

Technologies: Python, JSON
The problem(s):
- there is no real alternative to Visual Studio on Linux (I will check Qt Creator and come back to this point - Jan 2025)
- update September 2025: CLion is now free for non-commercial use wooooo
- Visual Studio generates a whole buttload of configuration, build and Gates-knows-what files - I hate this
- I want to make a build system :)
The solution: sea-crawler - which
generateswill generate a normal JSON file containing all the project information. Maybe I will make it generate make or CMake files in the future, but that's a while away. - there is no real alternative to Visual Studio on Linux (I will check Qt Creator and come back to this point - Jan 2025)
-
Technologies: C++, SFML
I like to make games, although for the moment I don't have any original ones. I do have several (relatively) lightweight clones of popular games, though, all of them in the same state as this one: done, with a few quality-of-life things missing, and in need of code refactoring.
Others include:
- Minesweeper using the same technologies (this one is actually complete)
- 2048 using Python
- Spider Solitaire but in the console, using Python
